SUBARU SAMBAR VAN

Subaru Sambar is a Kei Car Micro Van designed to carry small number of people. It provides a pleasurable and fun-loving family-friendly driving journey experience. This trendy and innovative compact van consists of seven consecutive generations.

The first generation was introduced in 1961 and ended in 1966. It was built with a rear engine, rear-wheel drive layout design structure. It used a 4-wheel independent suspension for perfectly balancing the weights of vehicle. This unique styled minivan was initially presented at the Tokyo Motor Show for both casual and commercial purposes.

It was created on the Subaru 360 platform with the one box body style. The reverse gearshift was strangely positioned on the left pattern selection. The front doors opened on the backward position with the traditional rear passenger doors. This small mini retro style van was specifically built to carry small commercial passenger and cargo load delivery. It was offered with a 356 cubic centimeter EK 31 fuel engine capacity and was powered by a 3-speed manual gear transmission.

The second generation Sambar was reappeared in January 1966 with a completely refreshed and redesigned exterior appearance. The competitors included Mazda Porter and Honda Vamos.

The third generation was launched on 10th February 1973 and continued till 1982. The latest generation known as the seventh generation model has been reintroduced on the 2nd April 2012. It has been inspired from the Daihatsu Hijet and Toyota Pixis Van design. It now offers a front engine, rear-wheel with an option of a four-wheel drive layout structure.
